Saturday, June 9th

3:05 Philadelphia @ Baltimore

Friday night we saw the Philadelphia Phillies and the Baltimore Orioles get into a slug fest with a total of 15 runs scored between the two teams and Philadelphia coming out in the end, winning the game by 3 runs.  We were able get a win with a Good Play yesterday in the 3rd inning because of all of the runs scored in the game.  Today we will be backing a team rather than the over/under.

Philadelphia has Vance Worley on the mound today who has a 3 -2 record and a 3.37 ERA.  Worley has been on a downward trend as of late giving up 11 runs in only 16 innings of work.   Vance has been recovering from an inflamed right elbow with his return coming on June 4th against the Los Angeles Dodgers where he pitched 4 innings and allowed 3 earned runs.  Expect Worley to test the arm a little more today getting back to his usual self before the injury hit him in early May.  In April Worley had given up only 7 runs in 32 innings for an ERA of 1.96.  Philadelphia as a team finally got back to the win column yesterday with their win over Baltimore after suffering a 4 game sweep by the LA Dodgers at home.  Philadelphia will try to build off their win last night and try to get themselves back in the running for the hotly contested NL East.

Tommy Hunter will be on the mound today for the Baltimore Orioles.  Hunter did not have a good month in May, unable to get a win and posting a 0 – 2 record in five starts.  In those starts he has given up 21 runs for an ERA over that span of 7.18.  I am sure Hunter would like to get things turned around in June, but I cannot see that happening especially after Philadelphia found their bats last night.  Baltimore as a team has not fared as well lately with a dismal 5 -12 record in their last 17 games.

Philadelphia will come out swinging today and should have some pretty good results.  The game really rests on the shoulders of Vance Worley and if he will be able to hold up in his second start coming off of the DL.  This would probably be a higher rated play if it wasn’t for the doubt that surrounds Worley. Philadelphia will be able to score early and often and we will be tailing the bats with this victory.

Projected score: Philadelphia 6 – Baltimore 3

Pick: Decent Play Philadelphia (-109)
