7:10 Milwaukee @ Kansas City
Milwaukee will start their interleague play against a
struggling Kansas City team. Kansas City
was swept over the weekend by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Zach Greinke will be on the mound tonight for the
Milwaukee Brewers. Greinke is having another
great year for the Brewers with a 7 – 2 record going 4 – 1 in his last 5
decisions and a 3.13 ERA. The more
shocking stat is in his last five starts he has given up 9 runs in 29 innings
pitched. This might not seem that good,
but when you look into the numbers the fact that in one of his games against
the Arizona Diamondbacks on May 26th he surrendered 7 earned
runs. If you would take that game out in
the other four starts he has pitched 26 2/3 innings and giving up only 2 earned
runs for an ERA over those games of 0.67.
Milwaukee was able to win their last series against the struggling San
Diego Padres and improve to 9 – 4 in their last 13 games.
Luis Mendoza is the starting pitcher for the Kansas City
Royals. He has not started a game since
May 18th when he got the no decision in his last start against the
Arizona Diamondbacks. On the year he has
a 2 – 3 record and an ERA of 5.36. He
has been pretty consistent on the year considering in his last 5 starts he has
given up 12 runs in 21 innings of work for an ERA of 5.14. Kansas City as a team has not fared as well
as of late and are way below expectations on the year. Posting a 8 – 20 record at home has not
helped their chances any. They are just
3 – 6 in their last 9 games and including the sweep that just occurred in
Pittsburgh. In that span they have
averaged only 2.6 runs per game which includes a game they scored 7 runs at
home against Minnesota and that still resulted in a loss.
Milwaukee should be able to get their interleague series
off with a victory against the struggling Royals. Expect the offensive woes to continue for
Kansas City especially with Greinke on the mound tonight for Milwaukee. Also, having Luis Mendoza starting tonight
for Kansas City should cause them to reach deep into their bullpen to get
through this game. Mendoza is more a
long relief pitcher so if he gets attacked early it should be an easy victory
and another win for us.
Projected score: Milwaukee 6 – Kansas City 2
Pick: Best Play Milwaukee
(-150)
